Ask students what makes them feel safe and few mention camera counts. They mention the officer who walks the same route every evening, learns names and notices when a gate is propped open. Safety on a campus is a relationship, not a device.
Predictable Routes, Human Faces
We publish patrol times to staff and keep the same officers on the same campus for terms, not weeks. Familiarity means students report things — a strange car, an open door — instead of walking past them.
Evenings Matter Most
Libraries, car parks and halls empty out after 8pm, and that is when worry peaks. A lit patrol vehicle circling every 20 minutes does more for confidence than any poster campaign.
Report Back, Every Term
Each term ends with a plain-English report: incidents, response times and three recommendations. Governors get accountability; parents get reassurance; we get a better plan for next term.
